What is Access Christian Mediation?

Access Christian Mediation provides a mediation process that addresses not only the presenting conflict or problem but also the underlying emotional, relational and spiritual aspects present in all disputes.

Through a Christian conflict resolution approach we help the parties to be aware of the centrality of Christ and His teaching about resolution of all conflicts. We help the parties consider and apply Biblical principles and therefore Biblically faithful solutions, both to points of dispute and relational matters.

ACM regards mediation as part of our worship as together we allow The Holy Spirit to guide us through the issues towards resolutions that set the parties free and so bring glory to God. Our focus is that we are called to “build one another up and be reconciled to one another as dearly beloved children”. This is facilitated by the mediator but brought into reality through our obedience to Jesus’ teaching and His call upon our lives.

ACM Origins

Access Christian Mediation has been founded by Peter J Bartlett, a Solicitor and experienced mediator accredited both in the secular and Christian fields, to offer a distinctively Christian Biblically based approach to the resolution of disputes and conflict.

Mediation is available in relation to all types of matters including commercial, Church, employment, personal, family and organisational. Peter has experience in all these areas including working with Non-Governmental Organisations.

Learn about Conflict Resolution

As well as providing mediation itself, training in mediation is available for those wishing to specialise in Christian Mediation. Seminars and training days in handling conflict, effective organisational structure (which minimises causes of conflict but deals with it effectively when it arises) and communication and listening skills are available for Churches and organisations of all types.

Testimonials*

Having been commissioned to deal with what the large commissioning Charity describe as a “difficult, complex and sensitive issue in our Charity” a Board member writes as follows “The mediation process lasted a week and I was present as a member of the Board for a good part of the process and was profoundly affected by what I witnessed. At the beginning deeply entrenched opinions and distrust were clearly in evidence which I wasn’t sure could or would be resolved. However as the week developed and with the careful, prayerful, gentle, inclusive guidance of Peter Bartlett the truth slowly emerged, misunderstandings were clarified, misinformation highlighted and by the end of the process there was a powerful healing and reconciliation. The process also highlighted systemic weakness in the organisation and we look forward to addressing these in the coming months to ensure that the kind of issues that took us to this point won’t be repeated. I believe we will look back on this as a watershed moment for the organisation from which we moved forward in a stronger better footing.

Many, many thanks for your sacrifices demonstrated over the last three days. I am very humbled and touched by such love and grace in action and of course extremely thankful for your wise, loving, unjudgmental and Spirit-led mediation
